Tiny Decisions, Big Magic

I’ve always been a little suspicious of those manifestation techniques that treat the universe like a vending machine. You know the kind, write down your goal, repeat your affirmation 108 times, stare at your vision board until it burns itself into your retinas. As if the sheer force of focus is what gets you what you want.
But what if it’s not about focusing harder? What if it’s about loosening your grip?
Here’s what I believe: when you have a desire, whether it’s to start a new project, fall in love, build a treehouse, or just be wildly, irrationally, unreasonably happy, you don’t have to chase it down with a butterfly net.
You plant the idea like a seed in your subconscious. Then you let it go. Not like, forget it ever existed, but more like set it free to fly ahead of you and light the way.
And from there, it’s all about the little choices. The micro-decisions. The quiet gut feelings. The random urge to talk to that stranger, take a different street, or say yes to something unexpected. These tiny nudges? They’re what will lead you to your 'happy'.
When we stop obsessing about the goal and start following what lights us up in the moment, what feels joyful, interesting, fun, alive, we’re no longer pushing toward some fixed outcome. We’re flowing with our own deeper intelligence. And guess what? That’s where the magic lives.
Sometimes, yes, we end up exactly where we hoped. But more often, we end up somewhere better, somewhere our “logical” self never could’ve imagined.
And let’s not forget: sometimes the thing we want isn’t a thing at all. Sometimes, the goal is just to feel good. To be at peace in our own skin. To wake up smiling more days than not. At the Church of Unreasonable Happiness, that’s not a side effect, it’s the whole damn point.
Being happy doesn’t always make “sense” in this world. But that’s why we call it unreasonable. Because we believe joy doesn’t need to be earned, justified, or delayed until everything’s perfect. It’s allowed, right now. Especially right now.
So yeah. Set the intention. Whisper it to the stars. Then let it go, and pay attention to what pulls at your joy. It doesn’t have to make sense. Just trust your next yes. That’s the universe saying, this way.
Yours in evolution,
Gregory Loewen
