A Church with No Dogma, Just Joy: The Church of Unreasonable Happiness Launches in British Columbia

Vancouver, BC — [April 2025] — What if happiness wasn’t something you earned but something you practiced? A group of spiritual creatives from British Columbia has launched The Church of Unreasonable Happiness, a new kind of spiritual movement—one that exists entirely online, welcomes everyone, and asks only one thing of its members: Choose joy.

With roots in radical self-expression, Eastern philosophy, and community connection, The Church of Unreasonable Happiness is not a traditional religion. It has no fixed doctrine, no spiritual leader, and no temple. Instead, it is grounded in the belief that God is within each of us, that our bodies are sacred temples, and that we are all one—interconnected beings on a shared journey toward wholeness and joy.

The Church embraces pacifism as a spiritual principle, choosing compassion and understanding over conflict. It also encourages acts of service and community care, believing that uplifting others is a powerful expression of divine love.

“We believe joy is a revolutionary act,” says one of the founding caretakers. “This is about reclaiming happiness as a spiritual path—not something frivolous or shallow, but something deep and world-changing.”

Currently based in BC, the Church is registering as a nonprofit society and invites people from all walks of life to participate—whether through its online portal, local meetups, or collaborative events.

What Makes It Different?

  • No sermons. Just stories, art, and connection.

  • No hierarchy. Just community caretakers.

  • No judgment. All belief systems are welcome—so long as they support joy, kindness, and human freedom.

The Church offers a space where people can explore their spirituality, sexuality, and self-expression in a safe, inclusive environment. Its website provides tools for inner peace, invitations to co-create experiences, and a calendar of digital retreats, community rituals, and real-world “joy pop-ups.”

As part of its respect for earth-based wisdom, the Church also honours traditional plant medicines as sacred tools for healing, insight, and spiritual connection—for those who choose to work with them, they are treated as sacraments, with deep reverence for their cultural roots and transformational potential.

Why Now?

With rising anxiety, division, and burnout, the need for soulful, inclusive community has never been greater. The Church of Unreasonable Happiness is a gentle rebellion against despair—a reminder that we are divine, connected, and worthy of joy, even in difficult times.
